FSU /  Film School / FSU Film 20th Anniversary / Our Celebration Logo

Our Celebration Logo

Earlier this year, the call went out to all Film School alumni, current students, faculty, and staff that we needed a logo for our twentieth anniversary.

The winning submission came from Brent Lagerman (BFA 1998). Brent, who is now living in New York with his wife Teresa and their newborn son, had this to say upon hearing of his win, "I'm very honored that the school has chosen my 20th Anniversary logo! I'm also very happy that I could help out the film school in some way. My FSU years were some of the best times of my life."

After Brent's graduation he moved to New York City to work in the film scene beginning with an internship at The Shooting Gallery, a well known indie production company in Manhattan where he later landed a PA position on a few indie films.

"I wasn't enjoying being a PA again after just having worked my way up through the ranks at Film School. I wanted to shoot my own films, but since I didn't have my own camera, I found myself spending a lot of time at the Sony Style store where they had just unveiled the first ever Sony DV cameras to the public.

I spent so much time messing around with the cameras that the staff at the store knew me by name. I started shooting footage when nobody was looking and over the course of a month shot my first short documentary in NYC appropriately titled Sony Style.

Sony Style played at a few art house theaters and festivals in the city and got the attention of an internet startup company that gave me a DV camera and tapes in return for as many short documentaries I could shoot.

Although these short docs were a lot of fun, they weren't paying the bills and so I started looking for other work. I ended up at a web design and technology firm. I was a studio art minor at Florida State and I've always been interested in computer graphics, so web design came naturally to me. I worked at a few of the other top web companies in Manhattan before starting my own company with my wife Teresa. That company is www.mimoYmima.com.

Over the last four years, mimoYmima has grown to be one of the top web design firms in Brooklyn. We've done work for corporate giants like Ford Motor Company as well as small local businesses."

The biggest news in Brent's life, which you may have read about in the Warren Report, is the birth of his son, Nico, (short for Nicolas) on March 26th 2008.
